Rhubarb Varieties
All varieties of rhubarb supplied by Hargreaves Plants come as crowns, in addition, Victoria can be offered as a plug raised module plant. Crown lifting commences in late October, continuing until mid/late February. The variety list is presented below:
Timperley Early
The earliest rhubarb variety, often as early as February outdoors. Very good for forcing but also suitable for outdoor production. Timperley Early produces long and thick stems that are red at the base with good flavour.
Victoria
Victoria is one of the easiest rhubarb varieties to grow. It produces abundant yields of large, thick stalks with a rosy-red sheen that gradually turn to pink and then to solid green toward its tender tip. The long stalks have smooth ribs and are juicy and sweet with a tart punch.
Champagne
Long, bright and thick scarlet stems produced from May outdoors and March when forced. Easy to grow with excellent flavour.
Raspberry Red
Raspberry Red is a new rhubarb variety producing high quality deep red stalks without the need for forcing. The taste is sweet.
