Chemainus, Mid Season Floricane Raspberry (EU PVR 20080650)
Chemainus is an extremely high quality fresh market raspberry from the same breeding program as Tulameen. Hargreaves Plants is the sole propagator of the variety in Greater Europe. The company has tested Chemainus over a number of seasons and has observed improved yield results with similar high quality berries to its predecessor.
The company expects Chemainus to take away significant market share from Tulameen. This is down to two main reasons; firstly, the improved yields need to be taken into account; secondly, the current crumbly fruit issues observed in Tulameen have not been apparent in Chemainus.
Hargreaves is producing high quality long canes of Chemainus, both potted and bare rooted.
